Queen of Spices (TURMERIC)




Turmeric has been used in India for millenniums and is one of major part of Ayurvedic medicine. This belongs to ginger family and is one of the important ingredient in the Indian Kitchen. It was first used primarily used as a dye and food coloring agent and later for its possible medicinal properties, it is used as medicine. It is called 'manjal' in tamil. Turmeric contains wide range of antioxidants, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic and anti-inflammatory properties. It also constitutes many healthy nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein, dietary fiber, nyacin, sodium, calcium, zinc, potassium, copper, iron, magnesium, vitamins C, E and K.
